Emberek magasságát egyéb hosszmértékben - yardban, méterben, centiben - nem szokás megadni. Az inch/foot magasságmegadás - emberek/hegyek magassága / repülési magasság megadására használatos; a yard - csak a mile alatti távolságokra használatos (pl. szövetek esetében); a furlong lóversenyeken használatos; a mile szárazföldi távolságra igen, de magasságra nem használható (létezik még a nautical mile).
